Our Experts provide services to the Trucking, Insurance, Personal Injury, and Accident Reconstruction industries.

JMK Mapping

Accident Reconstruction

MSC provides both Quick Response and "cold case" analysis for our clients, based on over 30 years of experience in law enforcement and accredited scientific education

Macro of Board Repair

Electronic Data

MSC maintains and develops unique capabilities for the preservation and analysis of data from modules on Heavy Vehicles (engines, brakes, and other controls) as well as passenger vehicle airbag modules.

Our services include performing fault-free ECM images, and work on damaged ECMs and ACMs

Renfroe

Human Factors

MSC offers a unique combination of education and experience in Human Factors and Forensic Videography that allows us to analyze, describe, and demonstrate the challenges facing vehicle operators.

We are able to provide assistance in the areas of driver response time, response choice, conspicuity, and crash avoidance.

Scientific Crash Analysis and Quick Response to Catastrophic Losses

Our offices in Hattiesburg MS, Birmingham AL, and Huntsville AL give us the ability to cover the central core of the Southeastern US quickly and efficiently.  Applying decades of experience, thousands of hours of training, as well as formal education in Forensic Science, Human Factors, Mathematics, and Physics allows us to analyze "cold" cases where the evidence is no longer fresh.

Recovering, Preserving, and Analyzing Electronic Vehicle Data

Almost every modern passenger car and heavy truck contains technology that can record data in the event of a collision or mishap. This data can include information about vehicle speed, brake application, sudden stops, steering inputs, mechanical problems and air bag deployment. In many cases, this data can be invaluable to determining what happened in the seconds before a collision or mishap occurred.

MSC is an international leader in the field of Event Data Recorder data technology.  MSC’s founding partner, William Messerschmidt, is the course developer and lead instructor of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s training course, Preserving and Analyzing Data from Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders, and was an invited speaker at the First Annual Crash Data Retrieval Summit in both the United States (Houston, TX 2006) and Europe (Frankfurt am Main, Germany 2014).  Benjamin Smith, MSC’s managing partner in Mississippi, has written nearly a dozen original research papers on HVEDR technology and worked with State agencies, Federal investigators and private engineers. MSC is now specializing in the recovery and transplanting of critical module components in cases where damage precludes conventional download techniques.

Scientific Analysis and Documentation of Human Factors Issues

Every collision or mishap includes the interaction of human participants with the physical world.  Human Factors Psychology is a systematic, empirical study of the way we interact with human-made objects – like roadways, vehicles and the hazardous situations we confront when we operate machines.  Often, Human Factors Science is applied to help our clients understand why events may have occurred.  Was an object visible?  Was the hazard it presented perceivable?  Was a warning clear and unequivocal? How do operators usually respond to these hazards?  By understanding how humans perceive, understand and react to the manufactured world, our clients can make a more scientifically correct assessment of a driver’s actions and reactions.
